My receipt printer is not working

Receipt Printer and Cash Drawer Troubleshooting Guide If your receipts are not printing, or your cash drawer is not opening, try these quick troubleshooting steps before contacting support.

1. Check the receipt printer Make sure your receipt printer is switched on. Check that there is paper loaded correctly in the printer. Look for any flashing lights on the printer – these can indicate that it has run out of paper or there is a paper jam.
2. Check all cables and connections Loose or disconnected cables are a common cause of printer and cash drawer issues. Be careful not to unplug anything else by mistake. Your receipt printer should have three main connections: A flat lead from the cash drawer to the back of the receipt printer A USB lead from the computer to the USB port on the back of the printer A power lead from the mains socket to the back of the receipt printer Make sure all three are securely connected.
3. Turn off your computer If everything appears connected but still isn’t working, turn your computer off and on. This often re-establishes the connection between the computer and the printer.
4. Cash drawer connection The cash drawer depends on the receipt printer to open. If the printer isn’t working, the cash drawer won’t open either. Once the printer is working properly, the drawer should open again when you complete a transaction.
